Find your sunshine
The warmest choices in Europe in November are Gran Canaria, La Gomera and Tenerife, with daytime highs of 23°C. That is comfortably warmer than London's 10°C, but none of the destinations tops 25°C: think warm afternoons rather than intense heat. The Canary Islands offer the strongest balance of warmth and relatively few rainy days. Cyprus also suits swimmers, while Malta offers a shorter flight if you can accept more rain.

Direct flights under four hours from Gatwick, ranked by daytime high.
Gran Canaria leads the table with 23°C by day and 19°C at night, a 22°C sea and 4 rainy days (4 h 24 min from London). La Gomera leads with 23°C by day and 20°C at night, a 22°C sea and 4 rainy days (4 h 24 min from London). Tenerife leads with 23°C by day and 18°C at night, a 23°C sea and 6 rainy days (4 h 24 min from London). Fuerteventura leads with 22°C by day and 19°C at night, a 21°C sea and 2 rainy days (4 h 12 min from London). Limassol leads with 22°C by day and 15°C at night, a 22°C sea and 5 rainy days (4 h 48 min from London).
Warm rather than hot (20-25°C): Gran Canaria 23°C, La Gomera 23°C, Tenerife 23°C, Fuerteventura 22°C, Limassol 22°C, Lanzarote 21°C and 2 more. For scale, London averages 10°C in November.
Gran Canaria and La Gomera are the best starting points if daytime warmth matters most: both reach 23°C, with 4 rainy days and a 22°C sea. Tenerife matches their daytime and sea temperatures, but has 6 rainy days and cooler nights at 18°C, so pack a light layer. Their listed flight times are 4 h 24 min. If avoiding rain matters more than getting the highest temperature, favour Fuerteventura or Lanzarote, each with 2 rainy days. Fuerteventura reaches 22°C, while Lanzarote reaches 21°C; both have a 21°C sea. Flights are slightly shorter too, at 4 h 12 min and 4 h 6 min respectively. These suit travellers happy to trade a little warmth for fewer interruptions to outdoor plans.
La Palma deserves attention if swimming matters more than warm air: its sea is 23°C, despite daytime highs of 20°C. Expect 5 rainy days rather than an entirely dry holiday. In Cyprus, Limassol gives you 22°C air and sea temperatures, with 5 rainy days, but its 4 h 48 min flight is longer than the Canary Islands options listed here. Ayia Napa has the same sea temperature and rainy-day figure, with milder nights than Limassol; Paphos also has a 22°C sea but 6 rainy days. Fethiye suits travellers who prioritise the sea over evening warmth: the water is 22°C, but nights fall to 10°C. Pack warmer evening clothes rather than relying on daytime outfits.
Valletta is the clearest choice here for less time in the air, with a flight of 3 h 18 min. Daytime highs of 20°C and nights of 17°C make it a reasonable option for mild weather rather than a heat-focused holiday. The catch is 9 rainy days, so keep outdoor plans flexible and bring a waterproof layer. Its 21°C sea is also cooler than the water around the warmest Canary Islands choices. Crete reaches the same daytime temperature, but has cooler nights at 13°C and a 20°C sea. With 8 rainy days and a 4 h 6 min flight, it is harder to favour on weather and travel time alone.
A little more detail

Expect warmth rather than strong heat. None of the ranked destinations has a daytime high above 25°C. Gran Canaria, La Gomera and Tenerife lead at 23°C, making them good choices for warmer afternoons without expecting summer-like heat throughout the day.
Among these choices, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote have the fewest rainy days, at 2 each. Fuerteventura is slightly warmer by day at 22°C, compared with Lanzarote's 21°C. Both have a 21°C sea, so the drier weather comes with cooler swimming water than some alternatives.
