Your July weather guide
July is a good month for Turkey if you want hot days and warm-water swimming, but less comfortable if you prefer being active through the afternoon. Country averages reach 31°C by day, with the sea at 26°C and just 2 rainy days. The main decision is how much heat you enjoy: Kusadasi and Belek suit heat-seekers, while Side has the lowest daytime average among the destinations listed. Plan outdoor activity around the midday heat.

Around 13.1 hours of sunshine a day on average, out of 14.4 hours of daylight (sunshine estimated from cloud cover).
July is the 2nd warmest month of the twelve in Turkey. It is 3.2°C warmer than June and 0.2°C warmer in August. The hottest month here is August (31°C) and the coolest January (12°C).
Based on the averages: light, loose clothing and serious sun protection - midday highs sit around 31°C; swimwear - the sea is 26°C.
Within 1.5°C of Turkey's July daytime average: Madrid (32°C), Hanoi (32°C), Agadir (32°C, sea 20°C), Sicily (32°C, sea 25°C), Bangkok (32°C, sea 30°C). See the full ranking for July.
For warm-water swimming, Belek, Antalya, Lara Beach and Alanya stand out, with sea temperatures averaging 28°C. Alanya combines that warm sea with a daytime average of 31°C, making it a better fit than Belek at 35°C if you want less intense heat on land. Kusadasi also reaches 35°C, but its 24°C sea offers a cooler dip rather than the same warmth. Marmaris pairs hot days with a 25°C sea, while Fethiye and Dalaman offer 26°C water. Kemer is worth considering if you prefer cooler swimming water: its sea averages 23°C despite daytime temperatures of 32°C. Choose for the balance between air and sea temperature, not heat alone.
July rewards a routine built around the heat rather than a packed afternoon outdoors. With country averages of 13.1 hours of sunshine and 2 rainy days, shade and sun protection deserve more attention than wet-weather plans. Aim for outdoor activity earlier or later in the day, and keep the hottest hours flexible for rest or somewhere cooler. Pack lightweight, loose clothing, a sunhat and sunscreen, and carry drinking water. Nights average 22°C nationally, so do not rely on evenings becoming cool enough for a complete break from the heat. Air-conditioned accommodation is a sensible priority if warm bedrooms make sleeping difficult. Low average rainfall is helpful, but does not guarantee a completely dry stay.
A little more detail
Plain answers, grounded in the averages.
Kusadasi is the warmest of the 18 places we track in Turkey in July with an average high of 34.9°C; Side is the coolest at 25.0°C.
The sea averages 22°C or more at Kusadasi (24°C), Belek (28°C), Antalya (28°C), Lara Beach (28°C), Marmaris (25°C) in July.
Side has the lowest daytime average in the supplied destination figures, at 25°C. That makes it the clearest option if you want warm weather without the daytime heat of Kusadasi or Belek, both averaging 35°C.
Turkey averages 31°C by day in July, compared with London's 22°C. Expect a clear step up in heat rather than a similar summer climate, and allow more time for shade and breaks when planning active days.
Light clothing should usually be comfortable, with nights averaging 22°C nationally. Marmaris stays warmer at 24°C, while Kemer averages 21°C. A light layer may be useful in air-conditioned spaces, but heavy evening clothing is unlikely to be a packing priority.
