Your August weather guide
August is a good month for Turkey if you want hot days and warm water, but less suitable if you prefer being active through the afternoon. Average daytime temperatures reach 31°C, nights stay around 23°C and the sea averages 27°C. The main decision is how much heat you want: Kusadasi and Belek are particularly hot, while Side has the lowest daytime average among the destinations covered. Plan for shade rather than relying on rain to cool things down.

Belek and Antalya suit travellers who want very warm water and can handle strong daytime heat. Belek averages 35°C by day and Antalya 34°C, with the sea at 29°C in both. Kusadasi also reaches 35°C, but its 24°C sea offers more contrast with the air, making it a better fit if you like a cooler swim. Fethiye and Dalaman sit between these options, with daytime averages of 33°C and sea temperatures of 28°C. The catch across these choices is the afternoon heat: favour relaxed days with access to shade, and leave more demanding outdoor plans for earlier or later.
Side is the clearest choice if your priority is a lower daytime temperature: its average of 26°C is the coolest listed, compared with 35°C in Kusadasi. That makes it a more sensible starting point for travellers who find intense heat tiring, though it does not promise cool conditions every day. Kemer offers a different balance, with days at 32°C, nights at 21°C and the sea at 23°C. Choose it for relatively cooler evenings and swimming water, not as a way to avoid hot afternoons. Marmaris, by contrast, stays warm after dark at 25°C, so evening comfort deserves attention when choosing accommodation.
Turkey averages 2 rainy days in August and 12.2 hours of sunshine, so rain is unlikely to be the main constraint on your plans. Kusadasi and Belek average 0 rainy days, although that is not a guarantee of an entirely dry stay. Lightweight clothing, sun protection and regular access to drinking water are more useful priorities than heavy rainwear. With the country averaging 23°C at night, do not assume sunset will bring a cool evening; breathable clothes and accommodation with cooling are sensible choices. Keep outdoor plans flexible around the heat, using the middle of the day for shade or a break indoors.
