Winter and spring: mild days, cooler water
December, January and February suit a break from colder weather, but not a holiday built around hot afternoons. January and February average 20°C by day and 16°C at night, so pack light clothes alongside a jumper for evenings. December is slightly warmer but has the most rain days, making flexible outdoor plans sensible. March reaches 21°C and April 22°C, with more sunshine than winter, although the sea stays at 19°C from February through April. That may feel brisk if you like lingering in the water. May is the stronger choice for warmth without summer heat: days average 24°C, sunshine rises to 10 hours and rain drops to 1 day. It is a useful compromise for spending much of the day outdoors.
Summer: the driest weather, with a midday heat trade-off
June offers a gentler start to summer, with 26°C days and 20°C nights. July rises to 28°C, while August is the hottest month at around 29°C, with nights averaging 23°C. All these months average 0 rain days, so summer is the clearest choice if wet weather would disrupt your plans, though an average is not a guarantee. June and July also have the most sunshine, at 12 hours daily. Plan active time for mornings and leave room for shade around midday, especially later in summer. The sea warms from 21°C in June to 23°C in August, making August a better fit if warmer swimming water matters more than cooler evenings.
Autumn: warm seas, then a gradual return of rain
September keeps much of summer's warmth, with 28°C days and 22°C nights, while the sea reaches 24°C. It is a strong choice for swimmers who can accept some rain rather than prioritising the driest months. October keeps that same sea temperature as daytime air eases to 26°C, offering a useful balance of warm water and less heat on land. The catch is that rain days rise from 2 in September to 4 in October, and sunshine becomes less plentiful. November feels milder at 23°C by day, with 19°C nights and a still relatively warm 22°C sea. Pack an evening layer and allow more flexibility for showers as winter approaches.
