Summer: December to February
Summer is the best fit if outdoor time and swimming are priorities, but expect comfortable warmth rather than reliably hot days. December averages 20°C by day, so it is a gentler start to the season, with a light layer useful after dark. January warms to 22°C and has the lowest monthly rainfall total, although showers still deserve space in your plans. February is warmer again and has fewer rain days, making it the strongest all-round choice. The sea rises from 19°C in December to 21°C in February. Pack light daytime clothes, something warmer for evenings and a waterproof rather than assuming summer will stay dry.
Autumn: March to May
March is the autumn month to choose if you still want a summer-like balance: days average 21°C, and the sea remains as warm as in February. It is a good option for combining swimming with time on foot without planning around strong average heat. April brings a clearer change, with daytime temperatures of 19°C and cooler evenings that favour an extra layer. By May, days average 17°C and nights 12°C, so warmer clothing becomes more useful. Rain days gradually increase through autumn. Keep outdoor plans flexible, and favour March over the later months if warmth and sea time matter most.
Winter and spring: June to November
Winter suits travellers who are happy with cool days and can adjust plans around rain. June, July and August all average 14°C by day, while July and August nights fall to 9°C. July has the highest rainfall total, but August has the most rain days, so a waterproof and warm layers matter throughout. Swimming is a less appealing prospect as the sea cools. Spring improves slowly rather than bringing an immediate change: September still averages 14 rain days and only 15°C by day. October is a little warmer with fewer wet days, while November reaches 18°C and makes outdoor time more comfortable. Choose late spring over early spring for a better balance of warmth and rain, but keep an evening layer handy.
