April averages 24°C by day, May reaches 28°C and September is hotter at 31°C. Spring is the easier choice for spending long stretches outdoors; September suits travellers who prefer more heat. Spring and autumn: the best balance of warmth and comfort
Spring gives you warmth without the strongest summer heat. March averages 22°C by day, but nights at 7°C mean a jacket still earns its space in your bag. April is a comfortable middle ground for walking, while May feels hotter and makes shade more welcome around midday. Autumn starts warmer: September averages 31°C, so it is not the gentlest option if heat bothers you. October eases to 27°C, with nights at 13°C making an extra layer useful after dark. By November, daytime temperatures are back to 22°C and evenings are distinctly cooler. Choose spring for gradually warming days, or autumn if you want warmth that becomes less demanding as the season goes on.
Summer: strong heat shapes the day
Summer suits travellers who are comfortable organising their day around the heat. June already averages 32°C, and July and August both reach 36°C by day. Plan longer walks for the morning, keep midday flexible and choose accommodation where you can cool down comfortably. July is particularly dry, averaging 1 rain day, but that does not make the heat easier to handle. With 12 hours of sunshine in July, shade, sun protection and drinking water deserve attention throughout the day. Nights are cooler than afternoons, averaging 18°C in July and 19°C in August, so heading out after sunset is a more comfortable option than staying active through midday.
Winter: mild days, cold evenings
Winter works best if you want to avoid intense heat and do not expect warm evenings. December and February average 19°C by day, while January is slightly cooler at 18°C. Those temperatures can suit daytime walking, but January nights average just 3°C; December and February nights sit at 5°C. Pack layers rather than relying on light holiday clothes, with a warm jacket for early starts and evenings. Rain is also more of a consideration than in summer: February averages 6 rain days, compared with 5 in December and January. Keep outdoor plans flexible and bring a light waterproof, but there is no need to treat winter as an entirely indoor season.
