January to April: the clearest choice for outdoor plans
February and March offer the strongest balance of warmth, sunshine and fewer rainy days, with 7 hours of sunshine and 8 rain days each. April keeps the same rain-day average but sunshine drops to 5 hours, so it is not quite as bright a choice. January is similarly warm and sunny, though its 12 rain days make showers a greater consideration. Daytime averages of 27°C rise to 28°C in April, while nights stay at 25°C. Pack light clothing and sun protection, with a light waterproof rather than assuming dry skies. The sea stays at 27°C throughout this stretch, making it a good fit for travellers who want warm swimming water without choosing the wetter months.
May to August: warm water, with rain becoming harder to avoid
May is a middle ground: daytime temperatures reach 28°C, the sea warms to 28°C and rain occurs on 13 days on average. From June, rain becomes a much bigger part of the picture, rising to 20 rain days, then 23 in July and 24 in August. July and August still average 6 hours of sunshine, so wetter does not mean consistently dull. This stretch suits travellers who can move outdoor plans around rather than rely on dry weather every day. Nights average 26°C, leaving little cooling after sunset. Choose breathable clothing, keep rain protection handy and allow for shade breaks during the warmest part of the day.
September to December: warmer seas, then a gradual improvement
September and October keep the sea at 29°C, but frequent rain makes them less dependable for a holiday built around time outdoors. September averages 21 rain days, while October has 23 and just 4 hours of sunshine. November remains wet, with 22 rain days, so it is not yet a strong choice for avoiding showers. December brings an improvement: rain days fall to 16, sunshine rises to 6 hours and daytime temperatures ease to 27°C. The sea remains warm at 28°C. December is therefore a reasonable compromise if your dates fall late in the year, though February and March offer a clearer advantage for fewer rain interruptions.
