Bangkok weather by month

December, January and November are the best months to visit Bangkok for a balance of heat and relatively little rain. December is the clearest choice, with daytime averages of 31°C and just 2 rainy days; January offers similarly manageable conditions. The catch is that Bangkok never really cools down. April reaches around 35°C, while the wetter months call for flexible outdoor plans rather than an expectation of dry days.

November to February: the easiest weather for exploring

November marks a useful shift towards drier weather, making it a good choice if rain would disrupt your plans. December and January offer the most comfortable balance: days remain hot, but nights average 22°C, giving evenings more relief than in spring. December is the driest month, while January is almost as dependable for outdoor time. February stays relatively dry and has the most sunshine, averaging 8 hours a day, though warmer nights make it less cooling after dark. This period suits travellers who want to spend plenty of time outside. Pack light clothing and sun protection, and still leave room for breaks from the midday heat.

March and April: plan around the heat

March brings a noticeable rise in heat, with daytime averages of 34°C and nights that offer less relief than in winter. April is the hottest month, reaching around 35°C by day and staying at 27°C overnight. It is not simply a hotter version of the dry season: rain also becomes more frequent, so sunshine is less dependable than in February. These months suit travellers who tolerate heat well and can keep their days flexible. Aim for outdoor time earlier or later in the day, reserve midday for indoor breaks, and choose light, loose clothing. April is a poor fit if comfortable walking weather is your priority.

May to October: frequent rain, with little cooling

May starts the much wetter stretch, with 20 rainy days on average, so outdoor plans need alternatives. June stays hot as rain becomes more frequent, while July and August have the least sunshine, averaging just 1 hour a day. September is the wettest month, with rain recorded on an average of 26 days. October brings some easing, but it is still too rainy to treat as a reliably dry option. Its cooler daytime average of 30°C also shows the catch: wetter weather does not mean cool weather. This period suits flexible travellers who do not need long sunny spells. Carry rain protection and choose clothing that dries easily.
