Winter: mild days, cooler evenings

December brings average daytime temperatures of 23°C, easing to 22°C in January before returning to 23°C in February. That makes winter a sensible choice if summer heat puts you off, though it is not the season for reliably warm evenings. Nights average 13°C in December and 12°C in January and February, so pack a jumper or light jacket alongside daytime clothes. The sea cools from 25°C in December to 23°C in January and 22°C in February; December is the better winter option if swimming matters most. Sunshine still averages 8 to 9 hours a day, leaving plenty of scope for outdoor time.

Spring: comfortable warmth gives way to heat

March is a good fit for travellers who want warm afternoons without building the whole day around shade: daytime temperatures average 26°C, with nights at 15°C. April raises the daytime average to 30°C and evenings become milder, with nights averaging 19°C. These are strong choices for a mix of swimming and time outdoors, although the sea remains relatively cool at 22°C in March and 23°C in April. May changes the balance. With days averaging 35°C and nights 23°C, midday breaks become more important. Its 25°C sea is more appealing for longer swims, but the extra heat is the catch.

Summer and autumn: hot days, then a gentler finish

June, July and August all average 38°C by day, making summer the least comfortable period for travellers who dislike heat. Nights stay warm at 25°C in June and 26°C in July and August, so do not expect much evening relief. Plan outdoor time early or late, with shade and indoor breaks around midday. The sea warms from 26°C in June to 28°C in July and 29°C in August. September still feels firmly hot, averaging 37°C by day with a 28°C sea. October eases to 33°C, while the sea holds at 27°C. November offers the better balance for heat-sensitive travellers: days average 28°C, the sea remains 26°C, and nights fall to 17°C. Choose late autumn over spring if warmer seawater is your priority.
